I recently had the pleasure of capturing Paxton’s First Holy Communion at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton (SEAS) Catholic Church in San Antonio, TX. This session meant so much to me, not only because Paxton’s mom is one of my very good friends, but because Paxton’s dad was working out of town and was unable to attend. I really wanted to be able to capture as much as I could so that his dad could feel like he did not miss a thing. I know how much this means to his parents and how proud of him they are.
Every time I see Paxton, he amazes me. This young man has such good manners and was just so sweet. “Yes m’am” is always at the end of his sentences and he was such a good sport about photos (even though I’m pretty sure he would have rather been doing something else). I was so happy to be able to capture some emotional mother and son photos too. It was so sweet to see his mom fixing his tie and just loving on him. I know she is so proud of him. I almost cried when she told me the story behind his rosary. The rosary has a special meaning because she got it years ago at Notre-Dame Cathedral while on a trip with a friend; a friend who later on becomes her husband and Paxton’s father. It was so perfect because Paxton loves the color purple and it just so happens that the rosary is just that color. I feel so honored that she shared that story with me.
The church was beautiful. Giant windows all around made for some gorgeous lighting. I loved seeing all the children dressed in their beautiful gowns and sharp suits. It was obvious how proud they were to be able to receive their communion and their sweet innocent smiles were a blessing to see. It was especially fun to capture a little bit of Paxton’s personality afterwards in portraits. We even did a fun jumping photo when I knew he was about ready for picture time to be over, that usually buys me a few more shots before wrapping up-lol! I know that Paxton’s parents will cherish these images in the years to come. I feel so honored to have been able to be part of Paxton’s special day. Thank you!
