Happy Thanksgiving from our family to yours. We at Olvera Photography want to wish everyone a safe and Happy Thanksgiving! We have so much to be thankful for this year. This year we were truly blessed to have completed our first year in business and going into this next year as taking on a couple of weddings as well. The journey has been unbelievable and we couldn’t be happier to have met so many amazing people and new friends this year because of it. We want to thank our good friend Erica Sofet of Erica Sofet Photography for taking our family portraits this year. She captured exactly who we are as a family. I cannot tell you how amazing it was to let someone else capture our love as a family in a fun, relaxing and stress free session! The Eilan Hotel was gorgeous and we had so much fun. The best part of having a photographer bestie- she lets you edit your own photos, we both know each other so well and we have our own unique styles so its great to be able to collaborate with another creative to bring your vision to life. Thank you times a million for bringing my vision to life Erica, I had this vision last year but since life got so busy last year we weren’t able to do it. 99% of the time I show up to sessions in torn jeans and a t-shirt, hair in bun and no makeup- being a mom and business owner can be hard work sometimes. Most days I ask myself, do I want to spend 45 minutes on hair and makeup or do I want to spend that 45 minutes cuddling with my son on the couch watching Star Wars and editing photos/answering emails? Well you know the answer to that already- lol! This is why I wanted our family photos to be a little dressier than normal and have fun with it. Who would have thought 3 years of being a mama would make you forget how to do your makeup?? So a big thank you as well to Kim from Makeup by Kim Ramirez for coming over at 6am to do my makeup for our sunrise session and making me feel beautiful.
We met both Kim and Erica through The Rising Tide Society (RTS), Tuesdays Together San Antonio meet up. It’s such an amazing thing to witness several entrepreneurs in the same or related fields coming together to really show community over competition-no strings attached, just genuinely caring people making a difference and helping each other out. When one of my best friends asked us last year to photograph her wedding in Boulder, Colorado even though she knew we had no wedding photography experience, I reached out for any help from my several wedding photographers in the RTS, Tuesdays Together for help. One day after a few months of asking around, Erica Sofet sent me a message wondering if I would be interested assisting her at a wedding and of course I was scared to death but so excited (and mostly super relieved) because my friend’s wedding was getting closer and I didn’t want to ruin her wedding portraits. We needed some wedding experience! Fast forward a few months later and assisting several weddings later- we are finally ready to shoot this winter wedding in the gorgeous Colorado- all thanks to the help and guidance of my good friend Erica Sofet. Not only am I glad to have met you and learned all about weddings from you this year with nothing asked in return, but I am glad to call you one of my good friends and even better that our boys have become good friends as well. Have you ever heard 3 year olds on the phone having their own little conversations? Seriously the cutest thing you have ever heard!
So there it is – it was hard not share every single photo from this session because I love them all but here are some of our favorites!! I cannot wait to order these prints for our home! I’m thinking we will be doing some more metal prints for our home, this time in some bigger sizes, I’m so excited. If you have seen our metal prints, then you know just how breathtaking they are. Most importantly these will be printed for Noah, yes they will be hung in our home, but when we are gone and he is grown, these will serve as reminders of all the love and laughter we had as a family. I know he will especially love the photos of him with his dad and big brother Tyler. Noah is growing so fast and sometimes I feel like I can’t keep up, I want to remember all the details of him being three. And on this Thanksgiving, as we watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade under a warm blanket on the couch- know that we are thankful for all of our friends and family, for another year of health, friendship and love! This is what we wish for you this Thanksgiving!
