Fiesta Inspired Engagement Photos at Mission Espada

Engagement Session at the San Antonio Historical Mission San Francisco de la Espada

In a little less than a month, these two will be saying “I Do”!! We are so excited for their upcoming wedding and are so excited to be able to share their engagement session at the beautiful Mission Espada. We love personalizing each and every one of our sessions and love that there is so much history behind why they chose Mission Espada for their engagement session. Mike’s family has so much history here, his family lived not far from Mission Espada and would spend a lot of time here. Mike’s father was also a Deacon and so it was extra special to find this out. Not only is Mission Espada a beautiful historical landmark but when you are there, there is a calm and serene feeling that overcomes you- Or maybe it was that Mike and Jodie are so relaxed and fun to be around that it just made it feel that way. They are such a sweet couple and Sam and I couldn’t be happier to be able to document their love story.

You know you have married your soulmate when she lets Batman officiate your wedding!

Marquardt-Ranch-Wedding-San-Antonio_bride-groom

Jason & Mariana’s wedding was absolutely perfect and although it was a rainy day, it subsided just in time for a beautiful outdoor ceremony in the Texas hill country.

I met Jason when I injured my neck a little over a year ago. I was referred to him for physical therapy and I remember when I first met him all he talked about was Mariana (his girlfriend at the time). Due to the extent of my injury, I was at therapy 2-3 times a week so I really got to know all the staff. When Jason mentioned he was going to propose I was so excited for them and when he came back with Mariana as his fiance, it was even more exciting since I love weddings!!! By this time, Sam had even started seeing Jason for therapy too! (If you are in pain- this is the Dr to see!) When they asked us to be their photographers it was such an honor because I had already been hearing about all the wedding planning so I was happy that we were going to be able to see it come to life! Mariana was stunning and her sweet gentle smile was one of the most beautiful sights to see.

Making a Military Couple’s Dream Wedding Come True this Christmas | San Antonio, TX. Wedding Photographer

We Donated A Wedding to a Military Couple

I was contacted about a month and a half ago by a sweet kindergarten teacher in Alaska to photograph an elopement at a park. She informed me that she had just gotten engaged a few days prior. Her fiance, who is serving in our U.S. Military here in San Antonio, had originally planned to propose to her when she came to visit San Antonio in December but he had just received information that he would be getting orders to an unknown location in March. He told her that he had planned to hire a photographer to capture the proposal but because of the recent news, instead of hiring a photographer to capture the proposal, what if he hired a photographer to capture them getting married instead?!! And so they decided to get married when she comes to visit him in December. Since she only had a little over a month to plan, she didn’t have anything – she didn’t even have her ring yet but she didn’t care- she said they were in love and they just wanted to get married! One thing was important to them and that was to have a photographer to capture the memory. Since Sam is retired from serving 22 years in the military and we love helping our fellow military families- I thought of the idea of gifting them the photography. But I felt a connection with this bride and something in me just wanted to make it a little more special. I called my friend, (and amazing wedding planner/stylist) Kelsea from Touch of Whimsy Design and Coordination and asked her for help and to see if this was possible just 2 days after Christmas. She said yes almost instantly!

Melissa & Jon | The Springs Event Venue Wedding | Boerne, TX.

Hill Country Wedding in Boerne, TX. | San Antonio, TX. Wedding Photographer

What can I say? We waited for this day for 11 months! We met Melissa & Jon 11 months prior to their wedding day. I had a phone consultation with Melissa and we just hit off right away. When she and Jon came for their consultation and we met Jon, we loved Jon too! We knew right away that these two were meant to be. They are such an amazing and fun couple to around. I love their love story too! They were friends in high school and although their lives led them in different directions for a bit, fate (and Facebook) stepped back in and reunited them. They are best friends and we couldn’t be happier for them.

It was an absolutely gorgeous day for a wedding at The Springs Event Venue in Boerne, TX. We had blue skies for the ceremony and an just like their engagement session, an absolutely gorgeous sunset for the reception. Melissa’s younger son helping her with her shoes was such an emotional moment and her older son walking her down the aisle was priceless- I literally had to hold back tears. As we shot her ceremony, it was the same all around, people wiping away tears of joy and looking at her in awe as she walked down the aisle. Such a gorgeous bride.
