With a name like Klein, how could you not be the center of attention? This stunning beauty is not only gorgeous but an amazingly talented volleyball player. Earning a full scholarship for volleyball to The University of Bridgeport in Connecticut, the pride on her parents face was indescribable. She’s so fun and easy going it was hard to not bombard the blog with her amazing photos. Even her sweet dog Farley was in on the action. The Pearl Brewery is one of our favorite places to shoot and I think Farley liked it as well. Isn’t he so cute??
We are so excited to finally be able to show off Klein’s awesome volley ball portraits as well. I’m so glad that she was able to make some time for us in between volleyball tournaments and school work. Don’t even get me started on her parents, they were the sweetest ever and we loved working with them.
Did I mention Klein’s mom is a talented makeup artist? Getting your makeup done for your photo session is helpful is so many ways- not only to you as the client, but to us as photographers. When you get your makeup professionally done, it helps you to feel as confident and beautiful as ever which makes the photo session go more smoothly and fun! It also helps us speed up the editing process, which in turn gets your photos to you faster. When we have set a date for the session the next question that I usually ask is if you will be interested in getting your hair and makeup done for the session. I know it can be an add on expense but in the end it truly is worth every penny. If you are investing in professional portraits, it just makes sense in investing in a professional makeup application. We have a list of preferred professional hair and makeup artists that we refer our clients to. These talented professionals know that there is a difference between everyday makeup and makeup for photography, not to mention they are so sweet! Even if you are a fresh face that hardly wears makeup, we recommend getting it done- professionals know how to enhance those gorgeous features and ensure that you are perfectly camera ready. A few years ago I decided to skip on the makeup to save a few bucks for our family photos and I thought I was pretty good at applying my own makeup, boy was I wrong. The way I did my makeup that day made me look older than I really was and the only thing I see when I see those portraits is how much I wish I just would have spent those few extra dollars on makeup. Another thing I have learned the hard way- glitter, mineral makeup and products with SPF are a big NO-NO. If anyone knows me- they know I have a bit of a glitter obsession. I quickly learned that glittery anything, mineral shiny makeup and anything with spf can make you look super shiny or worse—- sweaty during portraits. Preventing an oily complexion is what we ultimately strive for. Believe me I love glitter so of course that breaks my heart, but for the sake of photos, going matte for one day is the better option!
I am sure there are many more tips on makeup for photos, but that’s a blog post I will save for a later date. Any makeup artists interested in chiming in? I’d love to do a blog post with specific makeup tips. It’s on my list of summer projects this year, so stay tuned! In the meantime, I leave you with more photos from Klein’s high school senior portraits! Congrats to this 2017 Taft High School graduate!
