Why I Decided To Do a Photoshoot 1 Week After Surgery

1 week ago I had surgery.  Yesterday we did a special mother/daughter session for a mother who is undergoing chemo. I woke up yesterday feeling pain and just blah- I decided I was going to ask Chrystine of Chrystine Campos Quiñonez Freelance Hair & Makeup Artistry who was doing makeup for our session if she could come a little earlier and do my makeup. One thing I have found that makes me feel better (besides Amazon Prime) is to dress up or at least do my makeup. Since I can’t dress up because my stomach is super swollen, I figured at least my makeup would look pretty and I definitely did not have the strength to do my own.

Shauna & Josh’s Rustic Red Firefighter themed wedding was AMAZING!!

The beautiful Shauna is Married!!! Yesterday’s wedding was a HOT one- 100 degrees hot to be exact! Of course, it was totally fitting for this hot firefighter wife! So just to give our readers a little update – I know I have been neglecting our blog for a while but we had been busily working on our Olvera Photography Commercial website (which is up finally -YAY!) and unfortunately, I have been dealing with a few health issues but I am finally feeling a little better and have a surgery scheduled next week that hopefully will make me feel back to normal.  If you know me- then you know I love themed everything- and themed weddings are my favorite. Last year we photographed a school bus themed engagement for our couple who met on the school bus in 7th grade (they even had a school bus at their wedding)!

Shauna & Josh’s Sunrise Engagement Session | San Antonio, TX.

How adorable are these two?? I’m always a little nervous going into any session but when another photographer hires you, it’s a whole new set of nervous feelings. Lucky for us, Shauna and Josh are not only the sweetest couple but they are so much fun to be around. We love joking around and having fun at our sessions and these two definitely had fun! We could have photographed them all day. Shauna is not only a teacher but a photographer at Little Munchkins Photography. Josh is a firefighter, so of course, when Shauna mentioned taking photos at the fire station, we knew it was going to be a blast. We love showcasing every couple’s unique love story and to be invited into the lives of our couple’s is such an amazing honor. We love learning about Shauna and Josh throughout the session, we love to see what makes them smile and laugh and make mental notes throughout the session to be better prepared for some even more amazing photos on their Wedding Day. I love how Shauna’s sweet boy also had fun at the session. His smile is the cutest and I especially love how they all were giggling at each other during the walking photos. Although it stormed the night before and into the morning, it cleared up perfectly just before sunrise giving us the most amazing morning- and some cool water reflection photos. The portraits we took at the fire station were so much fun, we also got a little glimpse of what fun to expect when some of Josh’s co-workers came out and started joking around. Sam and I know the wedding day is going to be unforgettable!

Senior Portraits with Cousins | Mission Espada, San Antonio

Senior Portraits_Mission Espada_San Antonio_Olvera Photography 1

Double Senior Portrait Session with Cousins at Mission San Francisco De La Espada in San Antonio, TX.

My cousins are some of my best friends. I come from a big family and I even have cousins that I call brothers and sisters. When I was 12, I along with 2 sisters and a brother were placed in a foster home. When my aunt found out, she and my uncle became licensed foster parents so that they could take us out of the foster home we were in. My aunt and uncle were my foster parents until the age of 18 so my cousins were really my brothers and sisters. My family all lived within 15 minutes of each other so family gatherings were huge with tons of cousins. We had so much fun photographing Gabby and Alexis’ senior portraits at Mission Espada over the holiday break. Gabby and Alexis are cousins that live in Missouri. Their families had planned a trip to visit their great grandmother in San Antonio for the holidays.
